BritBox, the UK subscription-based entertainment streaming service, has unveiled its plans for expansion in the US, establishing a strategic partnership with Vizio. This collaboration grants Vizio smart TV users entry to BritBox's extensive assortment of British titles, encompassing exclusive premieres, original content, and popular series. Offering diverse genres spanning mystery, drama, comedy, and lifestyle, BritBox aims to deliver an enriching entertainment experience to viewers. The service is accessible for $8.99 per month or $89.99 per year following a complimentary seven-day trial.
The integration of BritBox with Vizio not only broadens content options for millions of U.S. households but also holds the potential for further growth. Vizio is exploring the prospect of licensing its smart TV operating system to third-party TV manufacturers, potentially expanding the distribution of BritBox. Presently, the streaming service is available across various platforms, including Roku, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Samsung, LG, iOS, and Android devices.
Reemah Sakaan, CEO of BritBox International, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: “BritBox is dedicated to delivering outstanding British content to global audiences. Collaborating with Vizio allows us to introduce the remarkable array of BritBox films and series to numerous households. Boasting a diverse selection of titles ranging from crime to comedy, we're committed to enhancing Vizio’s entertainment offerings with the finest of British television.”
BritBox recently surpassed 3.4 million subscribers worldwide, experiencing a 15% growth in membership since the onset of 2023. To support its expansion, the streaming service has implemented leadership changes, recruiting talent from Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix. Additionally, BritBox has established a global editorial team to steer the company's commissioning and acquisition strategies.
Despite facing a patent lawsuit filed by Dish Network in October, alleging a breach in the use of adaptive bit rate technology, BritBox remains resolute in its dedication to providing top-tier British content to a global audience.
